how to inject zepbound
Injecting Zepbound involves the following steps:
- Inspect the Pen: Ensure the Zepbound pen is in good condition. Check that the medicine inside is clear, free of particles, and not expired.
- Select an Injection Site: Choose an area on your abdomen, thigh, or back of the upper arm. Rotate injection sites each week to prevent irritation. Avoid injecting into moles, scars, or areas that are tender or bruised.
- Prepare the Pen:
- Ensure the pen is locked (gray lock).
- Remove the gray base cap without touching the needle.
- Let the pen sit at room temperature for a few minutes if it was refrigerated, as this can make the injection more comfortable.
- Administer the Injection:
- Place the clear base of the pen flat against your chosen injection site.
- Unlock the zepbound pen by turning the lock ring.
- Press and hold the purple injection button. You will hear a first click indicating the start of the injection and a second click when it’s complete. Keep the pen in place until the second click is heard.
- After the Injection: Carefully remove the pen from your skin. If there’s a drop of blood, gently press a cotton ball or gauze over the site without rubbing.
- Dispose of the Pen: Place the used pen in an FDA-approved sharps disposal container to prevent injury and contamination
